GROTH CABERNET SAUVIGNON TASTING NOTES
Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 92 pt. (Tasted 9/3/10)
Great Oakville Cabernet! June loved this wine, and as a buyer, she has tasted quite a few. Drink now or hold.
Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 94 pt. (Tasted 4/1/11)
Earth, gravel, dust and black fruits...everything you'd expect from an Oakville Cabernet! Dried cherry, cranberry and cigar box on the front palate. Wine is well balanced with nice rounded tannins and a long, dry finish. Drink now or hold for several years.
Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 92+ pt. (Tasted 2/14/11)
Nose of black fruits and cola. Tobacco, earth and gravel on the palate. Nice complex wine with a long finish. Paired with Prime, prime rib steak and asparagus. The fat of the steak marries well with the earth and gravel of the wine. I have notes from 10/8/10 when we had a cabernet taste off: "Had this with a Titus 05, a Sola 05 and a Ferrari 07. The Groth won!"
Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 92+ (Tasted 4/1/11)
Earth and black fruits. Soft and elegant, like a Mondavi reserve, soft rounded tannins. Wine is perfect now. Minerals, earth and chocolate on the palate. Very nice long, velvet finish. It is the best of both worlds, It's in the Bordeaux-style of the 70's, low alcohol (12.5%) but still new world with Napa fruit forward. Love this wine.
