MOLASSES COOKIES WITH JAM (we took this on 1/10/1967)
Cream 1 c. Crisco and 1 c. sugar; add 1 c. light molasses. Sift together 4 t. baking soda, 2 t. ginger, 2 t. cinnamon, 1/2 t. cloves,1/4 t. nutmeg, 1 t. salt and 2 c. sifted flour. Add alternately to creamed mixture with 1 c. sour milk. Gradually add another 3 cups sifted flour to make a soft dough. Roll out onto a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut in 3-4 inch rounds and sprinkle with sugar. Put a dab of raspberry jam or preserves in center (do not dent). Bake on lightly greased sheet 400° for 5-8 minutes.
