ACORN SQUASH (Lynn's)

2 acorn squash
1/2 c. maple syrup
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 stick butter, softened
pinch salt and pepper (optional)
cinnamon to taste (optional)

Cut squash in half, length-wise. Scoop out seeds. Cut into quarters and place on a greased baking pan. Salt and pepper the squash. Combine syrup, brown sugar and butter. Glaze the top and sides of squash. Bake 375° for 45 minutes. Every 10 minutes spoon on more of the syrup mixture. Cook til nicely browned. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

ACORN SQUASH (Martha's)

Cut squash in half and remove seeds and strings. Mix 1 lb. ground beef, 1 small chopped onion 1 clove chopped garlic, salt and pepper to taste. Divide mixture in half and place inside each squash half. Place on a cookie sheet and cover with foil. Bake 350° for 1 hour. Martha has also used pork sausage in the place of the beef.
