1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. sugar
2 c. sifted flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t salt
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg
1/2 t. vanilla extract
5 Heath toffee bars, crushed or 1 bag (12 oz.) toffee bits, crushed
1/2 c. pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a (9x13 inch) pan. Put sugars in a bowl and mix. Cut in butter. Remove 1/2 c. mixture and set aside. To the remainder, add buttermilk, egg and vanilla. Beat well and turn into greased pan. Combine the reserved dry ingredients with the candy and nuts. Sprinkle over batter. Bake coffee cake for 30-35 minutes.
