The biscuits like Cracker Barrel restaurant has been one of the most requested biscuit recipes we have ever had from Gloria Pitzer. Her make-a-like recipe for The Cracker Barrel must be right on the mark.


2 c. flour
1 T. baking powder
1 T. sugar
1/2 t. salt
1/3 c. Crisco

Mix all the buscuit ingredients together til crumbly. Make a well with your thumbs in the center of the mound. Dissolve 1/8 t. baking soda in 3/4 c. buttermilk and pour into the well. Mix all completely into a dough and knead til smooth and elastic. Pat biscuit dough out 1 inch thick and put into 3 inch rounds. Shape into muffins and place on a greased sheet. Brush with an egg wash before baking. Bake 450°,15-18 minutes or til golden.
(makes 8-10 biscuits)
