ORANGE CHIFFON PIE

1 T. unflavored gelatin
1/4 c. cold water
4 eggs, separated
1 c. sugar, divided
1/2 c. orange juice
1 T. lemon juice
1/2 t. salt
1 T. grated orange rind
1 baked pastry shell (9 inch)
1/2 recipe of whipped cream topping

Soften gelatin in water for 5 minutes. Beat egg yolks and add 1/2 c. sugar, orange juice, lemon juice and salt. Cook over boiling water to a custard consistency. Add grated orange rind and softened gelatin and stir thoroughly. Cool. When mixture begins to thicken fold in stiffly beaten egg whites to which remaining 1/2 c. sugar has been added. Fill pastry shell and chill. Spread with whipped cream topping.
